About the Role

KPMG is seeking a Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. This role involves working on compliance and consulting projects for multi-state alternative investment clients, reviewing tax calculations on state income tax returns, and building strong client relationships. You will also supervise and mentor staff within a collaborative, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

1. Participate in compliance and consulting projects for multi-state alternative investment clients (hedge funds, private equity, real estate).
2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized industry knowledge.
3. Review tax calculations and information on state income tax returns.
4. Develop and maintain client relationships; supervise and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience preparing or reviewing state income tax returns for pass-through and corporate entities, with knowledge of multi-state tax issues.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; CPA, EA, JD/LLM, or MTX license, or equivalent credentials. If not possessed at hire, must obtain within one year.
• Experience with pass-through entities and relevant state tax concepts.
• Strong relationship-building skills internally and with clients.
• Excellent communication, research, and team management skills.
