Job summary

Whitley Penn is seeking a Tax Senior Manager with a strong background in partnerships and private equity taxation to join our team in Dallas, Plano, or Fort Worth, TX. The role includes managing multiple client engagements, guiding staff, and ensuring compliance with complex tax laws.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in public accounting, an active CPA license, and degrees in accounting (Master's preferred). Excellent communication and client-relations skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
• Strong background in partnerships and private equity taxation at both portfolio company and fund level.
• Active CPA license.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master’s degree preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, and other tax laws, regulations, and guidance.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing; actively listens and clearly communicates ideas and information.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between the partner, the client, and the professional staff.
• Manage multiple tax returns and client engagements; monitor engagement economics and workflow.
• Review and prepare 1065, 1040, 1120, and 1120S returns, estimates, extensions, and year-end projections.
• Develop client service plans for engagements in collaboration with the team.
• Guide and support development and growth of staff; manage high-risk situations as applicable.
• Research technical tax issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
