Qualifications

  • Proficiency with professional tax software including CCH Axcess or similar.

About the Role

As a Tax Manager, you'll oversee tax engagements from planning through completion, managing client relationships while ensuring high-quality technical delivery. You'll collaborate with senior leadership, identify planning opportunities, and help develop the next generation of tax professionals.


Key Responsibilities

Client & Technical Leadership


  • Manage tax engagements for partnerships, corporations, S corporations, and individual clients.

  • Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for accuracy and compliance.

  • Develop proactive tax planning strategies tailored to each client's business and financial objectives.

  • Research technical tax matters and provide practical recommendations based on current legislation and regulatory guidance.

  • Identify tax-saving opportunities, including available credits, incentives, and planning strategies.

  • Support clients through tax examinations and respond to federal and state tax enquiries where required.

  • Utilise tax technology and professional software to improve efficiency and deliver high-quality outcomes.


Client Management & Business Development


  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned client engagements.

  • Build strong, long-term relationships through responsive communication and trusted advice.

  • Manage engagement budgets, billing, collections, and overall project profitability.

  • Participate in networking events, client meetings, and business development initiatives.

  • Assist with proposals and contribute to expanding relationships with existing and prospective clients.


Leadership & Team Development


  • Supervise, mentor, and coach junior tax professionals throughout engagements.

  • Review work completed by team members and provide constructive technical feedback.

  • Support training initiatives and encourage continuous professional development.

  • Collaborate with managers and partners to improve processes and strengthen team performance.


What We're Looking For


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.

  • CPA licence or Bar qualification.

  • Minimum of five years' experience within public accounting.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning.

  • Experience managing tax engagements and reviewing complex tax returns.

  • Proficiency with professional tax software, including CCH Axcess or similar platforms.

  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Willingness to travel to client locations as needed, including occasional overnight travel.
