The Role
As a Tax Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of private clients, managing tax compliance and advisory engagements from planning through completion. You'll work closely with senior leadership to develop long-term tax strategies while supporting the growth and development of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple tax engagements for individuals, closely held businesses, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates, and family offices.
- Lead engagements from initial planning through final delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Review complex federal and state tax returns while providing practical planning strategies tailored to each client's objectives.
- Develop proactive tax-saving opportunities and long-term planning solutions.
- Conduct technical tax research and advise clients on the impact of new legislation and regulatory changes.
- Support clients through IRS and state tax examinations, notices, and correspondence.
- Prepare and review quarterly tax projections and year-end planning strategies.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships by delivering responsive, high-quality client service.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Tax Seniors, Associates, and junior staff through coaching and technical guidance.
- Collaborate with partners on business development initiatives, client presentations, and proposal opportunities.Contribute to improving internal processes and promoting best practices across the tax department.
About You
We're looking for an experienced tax professional who brings both technical expertise and strong leadership skills. Ideallly, you'll have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) qualification.
- Five or more years of public accounting experience with a strong background in Private Client Services.
- Experience advising high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trusts, estates, and privately owned businesses.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax compliance and planning.
- Experience using professional tax software such as CCH Axcess or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills.
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements while mentoring and developing team members.
