The Role

As a Tax Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of complex tax engagements, providing strategic advice and managing projects from planning through completion. You'll work closely with partners and senior leadership while mentoring junior professionals and supporting the continued growth of the practice.


Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Technical Delivery


  • Manage federal, state, local, and international tax compliance engagements for partnerships, corporations, and individual clients.

  • Review complex tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax calculations to ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop proactive tax planning strategies that align with clients' commercial and financial objectives.

  • Conduct technical tax research and provide practical recommendations on evolving tax legislation.

  • Advise clients on tax-efficient structures, business transactions, and compliance matters.

  • Support federal and state tax examinations, responding to enquiries and assisting with audit processes.

  • Utilise tax technology and software platforms to improve efficiency and maintain high-quality deliverables.


Client Relationships & Business Development


  • Act as the primary contact for assigned client engagements, delivering exceptional service and trusted advice.

  • Manage engagement budgets, billing, and project profitability.

  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through additional advisory and consulting services.

  • Participate in networking events, client meetings, and proposal development to support continued business growth.


Leadership & Team Development


  • Supervise and mentor Tax Associates and Senior Associates, providing technical guidance and performance coaching.

  • Review team members' work and support their professional development through ongoing feedback.

  • Collaborate with partners and senior managers to improve processes, develop best practices, and strengthen engagement delivery.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.

  • CPA licence or Bar qualification.

  • Minimum of five years' public accounting experience with a strong background in taxation.

  • Experience serving private equity-backed partnerships and publicly traded companies.

  • Knowledge of tax matters affecting the energy sector; Oil & Gas experience is advantageous.

  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions or a strong interest in transaction advisory work.

  • Experience with ASC 740 and public company tax reporting is beneficial.

  • Strong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

  • Willingness to travel to client locations, including occasional overnight travel.
