Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Tax Manager for its Chicago office, joining a Top 60 CPA firm experiencing significant growth. The role offers leadership over tax engagements, mentorship of staff, and advisory support to a diverse client base, with a clear path toward future partnership.

You will lead engagements, review complex returns, and collaborate with partners on service strategies while staying current on tax regulations across industries.

Qualifications

• CPA license required.
• 6–12 years of public accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Currently spending 90%+ of time reviewing tax returns and workpapers.
• Strong technical tax knowledge across various entity types.
• Experience serving clients in Manufacturing & Distribution, Construction, Technology, or Professional Services.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review complex tax engagements for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
• Review tax returns prepared by staff and seniors, focusing on technical accuracy and quality control.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with proactive tax planning and consulting.
• Mentor, coach, and develop team members on engagements.
• Collaborate with partners on client service strategies and growth initiatives.
• Stay current on federal, state, and local tax regulations and industry developments.
