Job summary

Kovoro partners with a Top 25 public accounting firm in the Midwest to recruit a Senior Tax Manager for the Chicago office. The role focuses on corporate, partnership, and individual tax work for private equity-backed companies, family-owned businesses, real estate operators, and high-net-worth individuals.

The Senior Tax Manager will oversee engagements from planning through filing, mentor a 4–6 person team, and coordinate with client CFOs and national specialty groups.

Qualifications

• CPA with valid licensure required.
• 7+ years in progressive public accounting focused on corporate and pass-through taxation.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 740, federal consolidated returns, and multi-state apportionment.
• Experience supervising junior staff.

Responsibilities

Their Chicago tax practice serves private equity-backed companies, family-owned businesses, real estate operators, and high-net-worth individuals across manufacturing, distribution, and professional services sectors.

As Senior Tax Manager you will oversee a portfolio of corporate, partnership, and individual tax engagements from planning through filing. You will manage and mentor a team of 4–6 staff and seniors, interface directly with clients and their CFOs, and collaborate with the firm's national specialty groups including R&D credits, cost segregation, and international tax.

This is a high-visibility role with a clear path to Director or Partner for the right candidate. The firm offers a hybrid schedule, generous PTO, and a collaborative culture that prioritizes professional development.

Requirements

• CPA required; MST or LLM in Taxation a plus
• 7+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a focus on corporate and pass-through taxation
• Strong technical proficiency in ASC 740, federal consolidated returns, and multi-state apportionment
• Experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff
• CCH Axcess or ProSystem fx experience preferred
