Job summary

Aardvark Tax Advisors seeks a Tax Manager to own complex engagements, lead a tax team, and elevate service quality. You will handle tax planning, compliance, and advisory work across entities while guiding clients through evolving tax laws.

You will mentor staff, review work product, and drive improvements in processes and quality, balancing workloads during busy seasons. This role supports hybrid work from Pleasanton, Cupertino, or Santa Cruz offices.

Qualifications

• Active CPA or EA required.
• 7+ years in public accounting or tax.
• Experience reviewing the work of other tax professionals and helping develop less-experienced team members.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including multi-entity planning.
• Direct client relationship experience; managed multiple engagements and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage client relationships across tax planning, compliance, and consulting, serving as a primary contact and guiding complex questions.
• Review complex returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and estates across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Deliver tax planning beyond compliance; identify tax-saving opportunities and advise on legislative changes.
• Stay current on legislative changes and translate them into actionable guidance for clients.
• Provide mentorship, review work, and close gaps in knowledge and processes.
• Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and manage tax risk for the practice.
