Phoenix, AZ | Hybrid | Competitive Base + Bonus | Total Compensation Up to ~$200K+
Youve built the technical expertise. Youve handled complex returns. Youve survived busy seasons. Youve reviewed the work, managed the deadlines, mentored junior staff, and developed client relationships.
So whats next?
Were partnering with a growing Phoenix-based family office and wealth management firm looking for experienced Tax Managers who want to take their careers beyond traditional public accounting.
This isnt simply another tax compliance role.
Youll work directly with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, helping them navigate complex tax situations while collaborating with wealth advisors, investment professionals, estate planning specialists, accountants, attorneys, and other professionals.
The goal? Become more than the person reviewing the return.
Become one of the advisors helping the family make the decisions behind it.
As a Tax Manager, youll combine technical tax expertise, client advisory, and people leadership.
Youll manage and review complex tax engagements involving individuals, partnerships, S-Corporations, trusts, and sophisticated family structures while providing year-round tax planning and guidance.
Youll also:
Were looking for someone who has already built a strong tax foundation and is ready to operate as both a technical leader and trusted client advisor.
You should bring:
Experience with UHNW families, family offices, private wealth, trusts and estates, closely held businesses, multi-entity family structures, or sophisticated year-round tax planning will stand out.
Experience with CCH Engagement/CCH tax software is also preferred.
Were especially interested in Tax Managers who have worked directly with clients and enjoy coordinating with estate attorneys, investment professionals, wealth advisors, and other specialists to solve complex problems.
Because you can still do sophisticated tax work without having your entire career revolve around the next filing deadline.
Here, tax is one piece of a much bigger picture.
Youll have the opportunity to understand a family's business interests, investments, trusts, estate plan, philanthropy, cash flow, and long-term goalsand then help determine how tax strategy fits into all of it.
Instead of asking:
Is the return ready?
You'll increasingly be asking:
What should we be doing for this family before we ever get to the return?
That's the difference between tax compliance and tax advisory.
We know experienced tax professionals have options.
For the right experienced Tax Manager, the firm has flexibility to reach approximately $200K in total compensation.
If you're an exceptionally senior candidate with significant UHNW experience, there may be flexibility beyond that level.
The opportunity also includes:
This is a local Phoenix opportunity. Candidates must currently be based in the Phoenix area.
Within your first several months, you'll begin taking ownership of sophisticated client relationships and tax engagements while becoming integrated into the broader family office team.
You'll be expected to deliver technically excellent work, but success here goes beyond technical ability.
You'll build relationships.
You'll develop junior professionals.
You'll identify opportunities before clients ask.
You'll collaborate with other advisors.
And you'll increasingly become someone clients trust when they're making important financial decisions.
There is.
If you're an experienced Tax Manager who enjoys complex tax work but wants deeper client relationships, broader advisory exposure, leadership responsibility, and a seat at the table when important wealth decisions are being made, this could be the career move you've been looking for.
Youve already proven you can manage the tax work. Now take that experience somewhere you can help manage the bigger picture.
