Job description

Reaching Tax Manager level should mean more than inheriting a larger client list and spending more time reviewing returns.

At this stage, the better opportunity is usually one that gives you greater ownership, more involvement in planning, and a stronger voice in how clients are supported.

I am representing an established CPA firm in North Dallas that is looking for a Tax Manager who wants that broader role.

You will work with high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses across areas including oil and gas, healthcare, and hospitality.

The work combines technical tax responsibility with meaningful client involvement, giving you the opportunity to become a trusted adviser rather than simply the person responsible for getting the engagement completed.

What could improve for you

You will have greater ownership of client relationships throughout the year.

You will work directly with Partners and senior leaders rather than operating several layers removed from decision makers.

You will gain broader exposure to planning and advisory work alongside compliance.

You will have the opportunity to influence workflow, client service, and the development of junior professionals.

You will also work across a varied client base, including high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses.

Hybrid flexibility is available.

What the role involves

You will lead federal and state tax engagements and take responsibility for the quality and delivery of client work.

You will manage relationships with high net worth individuals and business owners.

You will identify tax planning opportunities and help clients understand the practical impact of more complex tax matters.

You will work closely with Partners on client strategy and advisory needs.

You will review work prepared by junior team members and help strengthen their technical and client skills.

You will also contribute to wider conversations around workflow, service quality, and how the firm supports its clients.

Who this role may suit

You may already be a Tax Manager, or you could be an experienced Reviewer who is ready to take on broader client and leadership responsibility.

Strong public accounting experience is important, along with the confidence to manage client relationships independently and exercise sound technical judgement.

A CPA or EA is preferred.

This could be a particularly good fit if your current Manager role has increased your workload without materially increasing your influence, client exposure, or development.

The opportunity here is to become more involved in the decisions that sit around the tax work, not just the work itself.

Compensation

$135,000 to $160,000, depending on experience.
