Spend more time advising, not just reviewing
A lot of Tax Manager roles talk about advisory work.
The reality can be very different.
You take responsibility for reviews, deadlines, client questions, and team issues, while the Partners continue to handle most of the planning and consulting work.
This independent CPA firm in Grapevine TX is offering something broader.
You will still manage compliance work, but you will also be involved earlier in client decisions, helping privately owned businesses understand their options before they act.
That means more planning, more consulting, and more opportunity to use your tax knowledge in conversations that have a real impact on the client.
You will work with business owners throughout the year rather than mainly around filing deadlines.
You will identify planning opportunities and help clients understand the tax consequences of important decisions.
You will have direct access to firm leadership and be involved in more complex client matters.
You will develop deeper client relationships and become a trusted point of contact rather than simply the person responsible for getting the return completed.
You will also have the opportunity to coach junior professionals and contribute to how the firm delivers tax services.
Hybrid working is available, with flexibility based around trust, outcomes, and the needs of clients and the team.
You will manage and review federal and state tax work across a varied portfolio.
You will lead client relationships and provide practical tax advice throughout the year.
You will identify tax planning opportunities and contribute to consulting engagements.
You will explain complex tax issues in a way that helps business owners make informed decisions.
You will work with firm leadership on more complex technical matters and broader client strategy.
You will also review the work of junior team members and help develop their technical skills and confidence.
The firm is open to experienced Seniors, Supervisors, and Tax Managers who are ready for this level of responsibility.
You should have a strong public accounting tax background and be comfortable working directly with clients.
A CPA or EA is required.
This could be particularly appealing if you enjoy technical tax work but want to use that knowledge more commercially.
It may also suit you if planning and advisory work are regularly discussed at your current firm but rarely make it onto your desk.
Up to $160,000 plus a 20% bonus.
