We are partnering with a growing, founder-led CPA firm headquartered in DFW Metro, Texas, with a strong audit practice and a scaling tax function. The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead the tax practice. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Managing Partner, with meaningful ownership of a growing book of business and a defined path to partnership for the right candidate. The Tax Manager will lead all review work, manage and develop the existing tax team, and design the workflow and processes that will support the practice as it continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical reviewer and final quality gate for all tax deliverables prior to client release
- Manage, mentor, and develop the firm’s tax team, including remote staff operating on U.S. Central Time
- Build and refine tax workflow, standard operating procedures, and quality control processes
- Oversee tax engagements from planning through delivery, including scoping, staffing, and client communication
- Review business tax returns and related individual returns for a portfolio of small to midsize business clients across multiple industries
- Serve as a technical resource to staff on complex compliance and planning matters
- Partner with firm leadership on tax technology and automation initiatives, including AI-enabled tools
- Respond to inbound client opportunities, scope engagements, and prepare proposals (no outbound business development required)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive public accounting tax experience
- Demonstrated technical expertise across business tax compliance
- Prior experience reviewing tax deliverables and providing constructive feedback to preparers
- Team management or supervisory experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a small-firm environment with an entrepreneurial mindset
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (this position is not eligible for sponsorship)
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or EA credential
- Experience managing distributed or offshore teams
- Familiarity with cloud-based tax platforms such as TaxDome
- Interest in tax technology, automation, and AI-enabled workflow
- Experience with nonprofit tax compliance is a plus but not required
