Job summary

The firm is a well established, highly profitable regional CPA practice seeking a Tax Director to join and help drive growth and client service excellence. The role offers a strong bonus potential and a 401K with employer contribution, with a fast track to Partnership and a balanced lifestyle.

Responsibilities include technical review of returns, examinations, and client service management, while mentoring staff, engaging with large clients, and representing the firm in tax matters.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of public accounting experience with tax complexity and research.
• At least two years representing clients before tax authorities.
• Minimum one year supervising and directing tax preparers.
• Continuing education minimum 40 hours per year.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical review and approval of returns and exams.
• Serve as subject matter expert in tax discipline or industry.
• Manage client service tasks within budgeted time.
• Oversee larger tax returns and delegate to staff.
• Participate in client meetings and tax planning for large clients.
• Act as a resource for staff on tax issues.
• Communicate tax developments to firm personnel.
• Delegate and manage government examinations.
• Support recruiting, training, and staff development.
• Ensure accurate billing and collections.
• Keep up with tax law changes affecting clients.
• Participate in practice development through referrals and industry activities.
• Develop and coach senior staff and staff accountants.
• Review staff qualifications and training needs.
• Travel to client sites and attend meetings/seminars.
• Occasional overtime, especially during tax season.
