Job summary

Ashton North LLC, a well established regional CPA firm, seeks a Tax Director to lead tax compliance and planning across SEC and closely held clients. The role offers strong work-life balance, generous benefits, and fast track to Partnership.

You will oversee technical tax reviews, supervise staff, and represent clients before tax authorities, with opportunities for significant bonuses and a 5% employer 401(k) contribution.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years experience in public accounting with increasing tax complexity.
• Minimum two (2) years experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
• Minimum one (1) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
• Minimum of forty hours of continuing education each year to maintain technical and business skills.
• Current and valid CPA license; member in good standing with the AICPA.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
• Serves as a subject matter expert in discipline or industry.
• Performs tasks related to client service and ensures assignments are completed within budgeted time.
• Assumes responsibility for larger tax returns and delegates to preparers as needed.
• Participates in client meetings and tax planning to assist the A&A Department with larger clients.
• Acts as a resource for tax staff on issues and questions.
• Communicates tax developments affecting clients to firm personnel.
• Delegates and manages governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before taxing authorities.
• Maintains knowledge of staff qualifications and assigns appropriate training.
• Participates in staff development and training; assists in recruiting and evaluations.
• Oversees billing and collection processes.
