Job summary

Qualifications

• Enforce state tax laws and secure compliance from delinquent taxpayers.
• Lead field investigations and asset identification to determine collection actions.
• Provide taxpayers with clear action plans to meet deadlines.
• Explain applicable laws, procedures, and possible payment arrangements.
• Communicate with taxpayers by phone, email, and in person.
• Educate business owners on tax obligations and remittance of payments.
• Inspect business premises to verify permits and tax compliance.
• Serve as a witness for court proceedings when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate efforts to collect delinquent taxes and tobacco-related obligations.
• Prioritize and manage an assigned caseload with minimal supervision.
• Serve legal documents to businesses not in compliance with tax laws.
• Examine records and determine appropriate collection methods.
• Direct field visits to verify permits, licenses, and tax compliance.
• Conduct tobacco inspections at retailers and wholesalers.
• Provide detailed guidance to taxpayers to achieve compliance.
• Engage with taxpayers in assigned regions via multiple contact methods.
• Complete actions to address issues and escalate when needed.
• Research applicable laws to inform action plans.
