Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting; a finance bachelor's or master's degree in business administration with at least 12 hours in accounting courses; or a bachelor's or master's degree in any other field with a total of 24 semester hours of accounting.
• Experience as a full-time Tax Auditor with private, state, or other local government agencies may be considered for higher entry level positions.
• One (1) year as a Tax Auditor II with the Comptroller of Public Accounts or left the agency in good standing within the past three years for Tax Auditor III.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for audit engagement on entry-level tax audits.
• Establishes audit period; reviews current audit file and prior audit findings as required by division policy; reviews pertinent law, rules, and legal aspects, and other information as necessary.
• Follows procedures to conduct audits on entry-level tax audits.
• Conducts entrance conference to identify availability of records and review taxpayer's accounting system; determines scope of audit and develops plan.
• Prepares and presents audit reports conforming to agency policy; verifies data entries and prepares audit schedules and plans.
• Meets training requirements; prioritizes and organizes assignments for efficiency.
• Supports assignments through the redetermination process and hearings; performs administrative tasks.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration with 12+ hours accounting; or degree with 24 hours accounting
