Job summary

KPMG is seeking a Tax Associate to join its State & Local Tax practice in Raleigh, NC. You will work on transaction-related SALT matters, due diligence, and acquisition structuring for buyers and sellers, leveraging AI and analytics tools to deliver insights.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and advise on SALT exposures while developing client relationships and advancing your tax expertise in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors: a JD or equivalent program from an accredited college or university.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred
• Strong tax research skills
• Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic environment
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technologies such as AI, Alteryx and Power BI in tax processes

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering transaction-related tax due diligence and acquisition structuring services
• Advise clients on transaction-related SALT matters for mergers and acquisitions
• Identify and estimate SALT exposures across income tax, indirect taxes, and unclaimed property
• Research tax laws and form positions for transaction facts and stay current on SALT developments
• Identify and deliver post-transaction integration opportunities and develop client relationships
• Draft due diligence reports and memorandums addressing risk and application of law
• Read and draft comments on transaction documents based on due diligence findings
• Build capabilities in technologies to enhance tax service delivery such as AI, Alteryx and Power BI
