RML & Associates CPAs in Laramie, Wyoming, seeks a Tax Associate to assist with individual, business, and nonprofit tax returns and to support client accounting needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and thrives in a collaborative small-firm setting where contributions matter.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting, 0–2 years in public accounting or tax prep, and is CPA-eligible or pursuing CPA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 0–2 years of public accounting or tax preparation experience (internship considered).
• Working knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software (Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to professionalism and client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofits
• Assist with tax planning and projections for clients throughout the year
• Conduct research on tax issues and provide documentation and summaries for team and client use
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and clarify tax-related questions
• Maintain organized client files in compliance with firm policies
• Stay up to date on relevant tax law changes and industry standards
• Support bookkeeping or accounting projects on an as-needed basis
