Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Tax Advisor to prepare complex tax returns and guide clients through tax planning and compliance. This in-person role emphasizes building lasting client relationships and delivering consultative service with the support of industry-leading training and technology.

You will interview clients, identify savings opportunities, and provide IRS notice assistance as needed, contributing to a collaborative office environment and the firm’s commitment to client care.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning and audit support.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and tax implications.
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and maintain a positive client-focused office environment.
