Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets in California is looking for a Taquero to prepare food orders, assist cooks, and ensure portions and presentation meet quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe work space.

You will greet customers, promote specials, handle ingredients, and work with a friendly team in a fast-paced, festive environment. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Friendly, courteous personality with strong customer service skills.
• Familiarity with equipment and tools used in the Taquería department.
• Prior experience as a cook or prep helper preferred.
• Basic understanding of English language.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and provide outstanding, prompt service.
• Prepare food orders consistently in portion, quality, and appearance to company standards.
• Only prepare food orders that have been paid for.
• Promote sales by suggestive selling of advertised specials.
• Assist cooks in gathering and preparing meats and other ingredients.
• Notify management when products or supplies are needed.
• Transport products to and from coolers and storage areas.
• Monitor food temperatures and report discrepancies to management.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work safely, using tools and equipment properly, and report issues immediately.
• Treat coworkers and customers respectfully; no profanity or obscene gestures.
• Follow all health codes, food safety practices, and sanitation procedures.
• Follow company dress code; change apron/smock as needed.
• Abide by all company rules and Employee Handbook policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
