Job description

The Talent Total Reward Specialist reports to the Manager Talent Total Rewards and supports the Global Talent and Total Rewards team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of benefits and compensation programs within a primary jurisdiction, responding to benefits- and compensation-related queries, and supporting the maintenance of internal controls to ensure consistent, competitive, and compliant total rewards offerings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the administration of global benefits and compensation policies and procedures, including core benefits, retirement plans, salary programs, market pricing, and related total rewards processes, assisting with the identification of improvements, additional offerings, and cost-saving measures under the direction of the Manager Total Rewards.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with legal requirements and support monitoring of the competitiveness of benefits and compensation programs in collaboration with the Manager Total Rewards, other Talent colleagues, Finance, and external service providers.
  • Apply developing HR, benefits, and compensation knowledge to support the administration and communication of total rewards programs and policies, primarily within the primary jurisdiction, ensuring alignment with the Firm’s values and competitive market practices.
  • Support Workday benefits and compensation configuration to help maintain a user-friendly interface and assist with reporting on enrollment, pay, headcount, and cost data. Assist with policy renewals, open enrollment periods, compensation cycles, and other annual total rewards processes within the primary jurisdiction.
  • Assist with audits of employee coverage, pay, and cost information; prepare and reconcile census reports, compensation data, and vendor invoices; and coordinate with Finance to arrange payments, allocate charges, and track retirement plan contributions.
  • Maintain benefits and compensation records and control systems, supporting compliance with employment laws and internal governance requirements governing benefit plans and pay practices.
  • Analyze claims, enrollment, compensation, and cost data and assist in preparing management reports to communicate significant trends affecting future costs, pay practices, and total rewards planning.
  • Address benefits and compensation inquiries related to plan requirements or changes, benefits enrollments, status changes, claim issues, compensation processes, and pay data, escalating complex matters to the Total Rewards Manager as needed and ensuring quality service and timely resolution.
  • Serve as a point of contact with vendors and survey providers regarding claims, eligibility, data submissions, and ongoing service, escalating issues to the Manager Total Rewards as appropriate.
  • Support Open Enrollment, compensation planning activities, salary survey submissions, benchmarking requests, and other Talent initiatives and projects as needed.
  • Manage the distribution of benefits enrollment materials and compensation-related communications, and validate eligibility or employee data as appropriate.
  • Verify the calculation of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and assist with the validation of compensation calculations, salary adjustments, and related data changes, resolving administrative issues with carrier representatives or internal partners as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Finance department for vendor payments, retirement plan contributions, compensation reporting, and other total rewards-related reconciliations.
  • Provide necessary reports for allocation, billing, compensation analysis, and leadership review.
  • Perform quality checks of benefits- and compensation-related data.
  • Identify reporting requirements regarding benefits and compensation and develop reports or work with internal partners to develop reports.
  • Perform any other duties as necessary and as assigned by your supervisor for the efficient functioning of the Department, Office, and Firm.

QUALIFICATIONS / KSAs

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in employee benefits, compensation, or broader total rewards, ideally in a law firm or other professional services business.
  • Working knowledge of employee benefits, pensions, compensation administration, and pay-related processes, with a willingness to broaden knowledge across additional jurisdictions over time.
  • Experience administering or supporting benefits and compensation administration in Workday preferred.
  • Good research and analytical skills; clear and concise verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain benefits and compensation information in straightforward situations.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees, managers, Finance, vendors, and survey providers.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate data, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills, Word, and PowerPoint.

At the time of this posting, the salary range for this position in New York and Washington D.C. is $80,000 to $98,000 annually. Actual compensation is commensurate with job related knowledge, skills, experience and location of the position.
