Hiring needs vary by department and are based on enrollment, staffing needs, funding, and available positions. However, many college positions may have increased hiring activity around the start of a semester:

  • Spring 2027: Classes begin January 19. We start posting positions as early as September.
  • Summer 2027: Classes begin May 24, with additional summer sessions beginning throughout June. We start posting openings in April.
  • Fall 2027: We begin posting for the Fall as early as May.

Because hiring needs can change throughout the year, we recommend checking our current job openings regularly rather than waiting for a specific hiring season.

What is an Adjunct?

Adjunctfaculty members are part-time instructors, responsible providinginstruction and performing student learning assessments.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Creating course materials, including lessons, assignments, activities, and assessments.
  2. Submitting attendance, grades, and other required information by college deadlines.
  3. Using classroom and instructional technology effectively to support student learning, when applicable.
  4. Working with colleagues to support students and meet the needs of the community.
  5. Maintaining a professional and respectful learning environment through strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree AND/OR industry certification(s) and 4000 hours of work-relatedexperience in the field.

Preferred Experience

Experienceteaching at a Community College or Vocational/Technical institution.

Teaching traditionally underserved populations.

Incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learningprocess.

Teaching in multiple instructional modalities.

Utilizing Learning Management Systems.
