Organization

Enterprise Minnesota is an ISO 9001:2015 certified consulting organization that works with small and medium sized manufacturing companies to help them compete and grow profitably. The organization also serves as the “voice” for the industry, raising visibility and appreciation for the value manufacturers provide our communities and the state’s economy. The organization’s affiliation with the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) further positions Enterprise Minnesota to offer clients leading-edge services to improve manufacturing operations, attract/retain employees, and grow business.

Position Profile

The Talent & Leadership Development Consultant designs, implements, and continuously improves leadership and talent solutions for mid-sized and smaller manufacturers. This role collaborates with client leaders to assess organizational needs, develop practical and scalable programs, and drive measurable improvements in culture, leadership effectiveness, and workforce capability.

Success in this role requires strong facilitation skills, deep expertise in leadership and organizational development, and the ability to translate complex concepts into practical solutions that work in real-world manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities
  • Assess talent gaps, succession risks, cultural challenges, and workforce development needs.
  • Collaborate with client leadership to establish talent strategies, including succession planning and identifying high potential.
  • Support client initiatives aligning teams, transforming culture, developing leadership, and leading change.
  • Lead sessions on topics such as effective communication, employee engagement, cross training practices, workplace relationships, accountability, and managing conflict.
  • Personalize/develop practical tools, processes, and frameworks that fit the scale and resource levels for small and mid-sized manufacturers.
  • Provide individual and group coaching to client frontline supervisors, emerging leaders, senior leaders and owners.
  • Provide guidance to client leaders on talent management practices and organizational development strategies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by modeling best practices and equipping leaders with practical tools they can apply immediately.

Client Advisory & Engagement Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to owners, plant managers, HR leaders, and executive teams, providing guidance on leadership, culture, and organizational development.
  • Translate business challenges—productivity, quality, retention, safety, growth—into actionable talent and leadership solutions.
  • Manage client engagements, including project planning, communication, deliverables, and timelines.

Internal Collaboration & Contribution

  • Support business development activities including discovery, proposals, scopes, and thought leadership.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Enterprise Minnesota’s talent development methodologies, tools, and intellectual capital.

  • Extensive experience in leadership development, talent management, or organizational development, ideally within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated success designing and delivering leadership development programs and facilitating learning for diverse audiences.
  • Strong coaching skills, with experience providing leadership coaching at multiple organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to assess organizational needs and develop practical, scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience working in a consultative environment or in a client-facing advisory role.
  • Coaching certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with lean leadership, problem solving cultures, or quality management system is a plus.
Working Conditions

This is a remote position with frequent travel to client sites. The consultant must be comfortable working in fast-paced manufacturing environments and managing multiple projects simultaneously. The consultant needs dependable transportation and should be available to work flexible hours, which may sometimes include evenings or weekends depending on client requirements.
