Job summary

Kids for the Future in Detroit is seeking a Recruiter and Retention Specialist to lead recruiting, candidate communications, and pre-hire onboarding, coordinating with the Payroll & HR Generalist for payroll, file completion, HRIS setup, and benefits processing.

You will partner with hiring managers, post openings, screen applications, coordinate interviews, and manage onboarding tasks and retention reviews (30-, 60-, 90-day) while maintaining confidential records and ensuring a consistent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s preferred.
• At least 2 years recruiting, HR, onboarding, or related admin experience.
• Experience supporting hiring managers with postings, screening, scheduling, onboarding.
• Working knowledge of HRIS/UKG Ready and MS Office.
• Ability to maintain confidential information and meet deadlines.
• Experience in nonprofit or youth-serving setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruiting plans with hiring managers and timelines.
• Post jobs, source candidates, screen, interview, and track applicants.
• Coordinate background checks, references, offers, and pre-employment requirements.
• Manage recruiting and pre-hire onboarding through onboarding checklists.
• Transfer completed files to Payroll & HR Generalist after hire.
• Support onboarding for volunteers, including forms and orientation.
• Schedule 30-, 60-, 90-day retention reviews and track actions.
• Escalate issues to HR Director of Compliance when needed.
• Maintain confidential records and ensure compliance.
