Job summary

AbbVie seeks an Associate Specialist on the Operations Risk and Governance team to manage the background check process for a high volume of requisitions across functions. You will partner with recruiters, Legal, and Compliance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to AbbVie policies and laws.

You will monitor status, resolve issues, and validate documentation while maintaining a strong candidate experience in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in HR, business, or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a professional recruiting, HR operations, or compliance environment.
• Experience with background check vendors (First Advantage or similar).
• Experience reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance.
• High-volume, fast-paced role requiring multitasking and organization.
• Familiarity with applicant tracking systems; SmartRecruiters preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the background check process for a high volume of requisitions across functions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for background check queries and issue resolution.
• Monitor status, follow up on items, and ensure timely completion for hiring decisions.
• Review background check results and documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Validate candidate- and vendor-provided documents per internal/external standards.
• Identify and document background check exceptions or concerns.
• Maintain records, process docs, and dashboards related to background checks.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal employment laws and AbbVie policies.
