Job summary

Capstone Copper is seeking a Tailings & Water Engineer at Pinto Valley Mine in Arizona to support water systems and tailings storage facility operations. You will work with operations to optimize water use, ensure TSF construction standards are met, and maintain regulatory compliance.

You will apply Capstone’s Tailings Management System, monitor KPIs, and contribute to safety, QA/QC, and continuous improvement. Collaboration with supervisors and engineers is essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Geotechnical/Mine) required.
• 4+ years in water, tailings, or related engineering field preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Support safe and effective performance of the site’s water systems and TSF under Capstone Tailings Management System.
• Partner with operations teams to optimize water use and TSF construction.
• Apply and monitor Capstone’s Tailings Management System; track compliance and implement improvements.
• Plan water system strategies, tailings deposition and water removal plans; review consultant deliverables.
• Develop QA/QC and safety plans for tailings and water systems; create TARPs and alarms.
• Prepare reporting for GISTM, ICMM, and state agencies; coordinate inspections and follow up on recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide training on water system performance and TSF stability.
