Job summary

Capstone Copper is seeking a Tailings & Water Engineer for Pinto Valley Mine in Arizona. The role partners with senior engineers to ensure safe water systems and tailings storage facility operations, while supporting design, construction, and monitoring activities.

You will apply knowledge of Tailings Management System, water removal plans, and KPI tracking, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, in a collaborative mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical/mining engineering.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of water systems and tailings design, construction, operation, and surveillance.

Responsibilities

• Tailings Management System: apply Capstone’s Tailings Management System and track compliance with industry standards.
• Water & Tailings Monitoring: plan instrumentation, evaluate new technology, and analyze monitoring data.
• Planning & Technical Support: prepare water system strategies, tailings deposition and water removal plans, and review deliverables.
• QA/QC & Risk Management: develop safety plans and Trigger Action Response Plans for tailings and water systems.
• Reporting & Compliance: manage reporting for GISTM/ICMM and coordinate inspections.
• Performance & Continuous Improvement: track KPIs and budgets, identify improvements.
• Mentorship & Training: mentor engineers and train operators on water systems and OMS.
• Take on additional tasks as assigned.
