Job summary

Barrick Mining Corporation's Cortez Mine in Elko, NV seeks a Process Engineer specializing in tailings and heap leach management to join our dynamic team. You will lead design, construction, operation, and closure activities for TSFs and HLFs, ensuring compliance with GISTM and Barrick standards while collaborating with cross-functional groups.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant engineering degree, 2–5 years of mining experience, and strong project management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• Strong project management skills required.
• Knowledge of tailings and heap leach operations and construction required.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in the mining or related industry preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work in a team required.

Responsibilities

• Lead inspections and monitoring of tailings storage facilities and heap leach facilities.
• Develop and implement tailings management plans and SOPs in line with GISTM.
• Collaborate with operating teams, engineers, environmental specialists, and outside consultants.
• Review monitoring data and advise on stability and performance of TSFs and HLFs.
• Communicate geotechnical findings to process, mine operations, and engineering personnel.
• Manage geotechnical drilling investigation programs.
• Oversee large-scale projects including budgeting and scheduling.
• Support reclamation and closure planning for TSFs/HLFs.
