Job summary

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) is seeking a Pre-MBA Associate to join the Tactical Value team in New York. You will work directly with senior investors, perform investment evaluation, build financial models, and help prepare memoranda.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in investment banking or private equity, strong analytical and communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. Start date between Winter – Summer 2027; base pay $110,000–$150,000 with potential incentives.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years’ previous experience in investment banking or private equity.
• Experience: M&A, industry coverage, or capital markets preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly and interact well with others.
• Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and a team player attitude.
• Superior level of attention to detail.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on macro themes, investment ideas, and target assets.
• Build financial models for company projection and transaction scenarios.
• Produce investment memoranda and support materials on investment opportunities.
• Coordinate with advisors and consultants on due diligence items.
• Monitor the performance of portfolio companies and interface with management teams.
