Job summary

Pottery Barn seeks a Director, DMM, of the Table Top division to develop multi-year merchandising strategies that drive growth and maximize brand sales and profits across departments. This role reviews and approves financial plans and collaborates across functions while managing associates.

The position is in office in San Francisco four days a week, with responsibilities spanning strategy, leadership of a +10 team, and close coordination with eComm, Marketing, Sourcing, and Visual Merchandising

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years experience in merchandise buying; home/vertical brand preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years people management experience.
  • Experience developing and presenting strategies, reviewing OTB, and leading teams.
  • Strong systems skills.
  • Strong business and operational sense; balance stakeholders’ needs.
  • Excellent team player with drive for stretch projects.
  • Exceptional communicator leading discussions.
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven success leading and inspiring a team.

Responsibilities

  • Identify long-term strategic direction for multiple departments.
  • Lead cross-functional plans and drive opportunities.
  • Review category strategies to capitalize on trends.
  • Approve strategic plans, product mix, samples, financials, and seasonal plans.
  • Lead divisional meetings and manage cross-functional information flow.
  • Collaborate with visual merchandising, eComm, and marketing for site optimizations.
  • Review markdown strategies and lead promotional plans.
  • Present concepts to senior leadership and gather feedback.
  • Travel overseas to review production and themes.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and personalization across the brand.
  • Manage a team of +10 and develop staff and succession plans.
