Job description

Systems Test Engineer III

The Electronic Systems (ES) engineering team at Textron Systems is looking for a mid‑senior level Systems Test Engineer to support the growing Simulation and Training Team. The engineer will support engineering development projects, deliver on program commitments and release capabilities to military customers. The role is interdisciplinary, enabling the full life cycle development of products, new product development, upgrades, integration, test and fielding solutions. The position requires hardware/software integration, requirements derivation/allocation, and collaborative teamwork. The lead systems test engineer will perform standard test engineering tasks and also assume project lead responsibilities such as project engineering, task lead and potential management of direct reports.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, development, and execution of tests for products (hardware, software, systems) to ensure quality, functionality, reliability and product specifications.
  • Create test plans, test cases, and procedures; write specific test cases and scripts for functional, performance, security, etc.
  • Execute tests, monitor development and production processes, and manage controlled testing environments.
  • Identify, document, report, and track software/hardware defects.
  • Collaborate with developers, process engineers and management to provide insights, suggest improvements and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Analyze results, document findings, and present test engineering work products to internal review teams and external customers at program milestone reviews.
  • Interact daily with technical leads, program managers, planners, technicians, and engineers.
  • Drive tasks to completion independently.
  • Provide mentorship and tasking to junior systems engineering team members.
  • Travel up to 15% in support of project execution and testing.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field, and 5+ years of related experience; or master’s degree with 3+ years; or Ph.D. with up to 2 years.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of project leadership experience.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration, requirements derivation and allocation, or architecture design.
  • Experience executing test engineering tasks including requirements analysis, design review support, validation planning, test, verification, risk management, and engineering analysis.
  • Preparation and presentation of test engineering work products such as test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Ability to serve as a resource to others within the department and organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with DOORS, JIRA, and MagicDraw (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Effective writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret eligibility required.
