Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a skilled Test Engineer II/III to support a major U.S. Air Force program. You will plan, coordinate, and execute tests at component, subsystem, and system levels, working with a multi‑disciplined team to support national defense initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with required experience for Level II/III.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in system‑level and mechanical structure testing for defense or aerospace programs.
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD standards (MIL‑STD 810 or SMC‑S‑016).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule test and evaluation activities to meet requirements and standards.
  • Prepare and review test plans, procedures, readiness reviews, and reports for functional, environmental, and field tests.
  • Support data collection including setup and operation of data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
  • Assist in‑house and field testing activities including installation, integration, and data analysis.
  • Provide preliminary post‑test debriefs to engineering and customers.

About This Role

We are seeking a talented test engineer with a Mechanical or Test Engineering background to support a major U.S. Air Force Program. As a Test Engineer, you will perform planning, coordination, and execution of component, subsystem, and system‑level tests as well as other evaluation activities across the program. Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule test and evaluation activities to ensure that test requirements and objectives are met per customer/program requirements and engineering and quality standards.
  • Prepare and/or review test plans, test procedures, test readiness reviews, and test reports for functional, environmental, and field tests.
  • Support in‑house and field data collection activities including setup and operation of data acquisition systems, accelerometers, strain gauges, high‑speed cameras, and other test instrumentation.
  • Support test activities including product installation, integration, test, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Perform preliminary “quick‑look” analysis and provide post‑test debriefs to engineering team and customers.
  • Coordinate with appropriate program, engineering, and external organizations during test planning, execution, analysis, and reporting phases.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and have good organizational skills.
  • 10–15% travel.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 2 years related experience (Level II).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 5 years related experience (Level III).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in system‑level and mechanical structure testing for defense or aerospace programs.
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD standards (MIL‑STD 810 or SMC‑S‑016).
  • Knowledge and/or experience using electrical/mechanical test instrumentation is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain Government Security Clearance; Active Secret clearance preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and have good organizational skills.
Compensation
  • Level II: $92,600 – $139,600.
  • Level III: $115,800 – $176,200.
