BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is seeking a Systems Test Automation Engineering Intern for our Summer Internship Program in Kokomo, IN. The role focuses on automated testing frameworks, high‑voltage integration, and automotive protocols.

You will assist in developing automated tests, scripting with Python/C#, and collaborating with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to validate products. This internship offers hands-on experience in test automation and verification.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Electrical or Computer Engineering; GPA 3.0+.
• Experience in Systems Testing, Automation, or Software Validation preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; agile experience.

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute automated test solutions across test environments.

• Perform regression and performance testing; log issues in JIRA.
• Trace tests to requirements using Polarion.

• Suggest improvements to test automation processes and workflows.
• Present project updates to team and stakeholders.

Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Systems Test Automation Engineering Intern in our Summer Internship Program.

The Systems Test Automation Engineering Intern will support the development and execution of advanced system and software verification strategies, with a strong emphasis on automated testing frameworks, high‑voltage integration, and complex automotive communication protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and executing automated test solutions across various test environments, including Electrical Bench, Power HIL, HV Integration, Dyno, and Motor Simulation


• Support the creation and maintenance of test scripts using programming languages such as Python, C#, or similar technologies


• Participate in regression and performance testing activities, helping to identify, document, and track issues using tools such as JIRA


• Support test case development and help maintain traceability between requirements and test activities using tools such as Polarion


• Assist in creating and updating test documentation, including test specifications, procedures, and validation plans


• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to support product testing and validation efforts


• Gain hands‑on experience with model-based testing and simulation tools, including MATLAB/Simulink and NI VeriStand


• Contribute ideas for improving test automation processes, test efficiency, and engineering workflows


• Present project updates and findings to team members and stakeholders throughout the internship

What We Are Looking For

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college; students pursuing Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred


• GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date


• Experience in Systems Testing, Automation Engineering, or Software Validation in the automotive or embedded systems domain preferred


• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and system‑level debugging


• Excellent communication and documentation skills


• Demonstrated ability to work in agile development environments
