Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Systems Administrator Lead to support the NISSC 3 program at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. This role provides onsite and on-call technical and operational support for mission systems in a TS/SCI environment, ensuring availability and security compliance.

The Lead coordinates work assignments, mentors junior staff, and ensures timely status updates to management. Active TS/SCI clearance is required, with DoD 8140 or equivalent certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of experience in systems or network administration, systems support, or similar technical roles in secure, mission-critical environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, CS, IS, Data Science, Software Engineering or equivalent DoW/military training in related discipline; TS/SCI clearance required to start.
• DoD 8140 qualifying certification; Cloud+/GSEC/Security+/SSCP or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and oncall system administration and operational support for mission systems at Vandenberg SFB.
• Coordinate work assignment and mentoring of junior staff; ensure timely status updates to management.
• Perform incident response and recovery, troubleshooting, and corrective actions for hardware, software, network and performance issues.
• Conduct preventive/corrective maintenance, including patches and configuration changes to maintain security and performance.
