Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Systems Engineer III for the NISSC 3 program in Colorado Springs. The role involves technical planning, requirements management, and system integration in a Secret/TS/SCI environment.

You will work with operations, cybersecurity, configuration management, logistics, and test teams to deliver secure, mission-critical solutions. Qualified candidates have 7–10 years of systems engineering experience, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent DoD training, and an active Secret

Qualifications

• Bachelors in IT or related field or equivalent DoD training.
• Equivalent DoD/Military training in systems engineering accepted.
• Active Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI is required.
• Experience in secure, mission-critical environments is preferred.
• DoW 8140 certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering investigations, risk management, and process improvement.
• Perform technical planning, requirements management, and configuration activities.
• Support system integration, verification, and validation, including test planning and analysis.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and recommended corrective actions.
• Lead or support requirements analysis, allocation, and traceability across hardware, software, and networks.
• Contribute to technical risk management, including assessment and mitigation tracking.
• Support engineering process improvement initiatives per program standards.
• Track and manage system obsolescence, planning upgrades and transitions.
• Develop, review, and maintain technical deliverables and test reports.
• Prepare technical documentation, training inputs, and supportability analyses.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated engineering solutions.
