• Author feature requirements, functional requirements, and high-level functional architectures
• Decompose features into clear technical requirements, software/hardware interfaces, and detailed architectural diagrams
• Write ISO 26262-compliant safety requirements and perform safety analyses (DFMEA, FTA, etc.)
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and test organizations to create and execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs)
• Support early prototype integration, bring-up, and debugging; perform hands-on triage and root-cause analysis
• Contribute to embedded software design for resource-constrained platforms running Linux or real-time operating systems
• Communicate complex engineering topics to multidisciplinary audiences through documents, drawings, and presentations
• Champion best-practice systems engineering fundamentals throughout the development process
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Proven track record in system safety for software-driven products, including authoring feature & functional requirements
• 5+ years developing embedded software or controls on resource-constrained compute platforms
• Experience with safety-related operating systems (RTOS) and Linux runtime environments
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly understand complex systems and perform systematic software analysis
• Working knowledge of automotive functional safety standards such as ISO 26262
• Hands-on experience with safety-critical software development processes and tools
• Strong engineering communication skills—written, verbal, and visual
Preferred/Bonus Skills
• Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety)
• Experience across multiple body domains: doors, hoods, trunks, latches, interior/exterior lighting, keyless entry, connectivity
• Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and other in-vehicle networks
• Experience bringing up early prototypes, writing automated tests, or developing HIL/SIL environments
