The Systems Integration Engineer for ISS Visiting Vehicles will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the Communications and Tracking Sub-Systems of the ISS Visiting Vehicle Sub-Systems.
  • Assess design compliance of the ISS Level 2 requirements to commercial providers.
  • Maintain and update ISS Level 2 requirements including Verification Requirements and Interface Requirements Documents.
  • Track and maintain requirement documents on task schedule.
  • Support the ISS verification activities including verification objectives and procedures, end to end testing development and reviewing Verification Completion Notices (VCNs).
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering.
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities.
  • Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews.
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have space industry or DoD work experience.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have 2+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • On location position - situational telework only.
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital and analog RF communication systems such as RF basics, radio propagation, antennas, and modulation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies including model-based systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

DESIRED:

  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork.
  • Experience with NASA processes.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located onsite.
  • This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
  • This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
