Job description

Integration engineers require specialized expertise in power system studies, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols, and problem-solving skills. They tackle new and challenging problems, often collaborating with a broad range of engineers to 'pull it all together.'

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and maintain technical expertise in electric power system protection and automation.
  2. Collaborate with design, vendors, utilities, regulatory agencies, operators, owners, contractors, and protection engineers to translate requirements into technical designs.
  3. Develop settings for control layers, including protective relaying and communication processors.
  4. Simulate power system conditions in labs to test communications and automation of integrated IEDs and software.
  5. Write detailed reports and process job billing accurately.
  6. Manage projects using web-based storage solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NERC, IEEE, OSHA, and NFPA standards.
  • Skills in generation and co-generation start-up, ANSI, NEC, NEMA specifications, complex control systems, and substation start-up.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical apparatus testing and power systems theory.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with clients, peers, and management.
  • Dependability, good judgment, and experience supervising large-scale projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, manufacturer-specific software, and AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights, and travel as needed.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, handle objects, and perform related tasks; specific vision requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • BSEE or BSME with five years’ experience in protection and automation systems.
  • At least three years’ experience as a Power Systems Engineer.
  • Registered Engineer in Training or ability to obtain licensure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Heavy lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing.

Candidates must pass a drug test, background check, and motor vehicle records check prior to employment.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Work in extreme cold and heat.
  • Operate in noisy environments.
  • Work around moving machinery and outdoors without weather protection.

TRAVEL TIME REQUIRED

Travel may be up to several weeks, including international travel.
