Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Aurora Central Engineering organization seeks a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to lead a staff of approximately 50 SEIT engineers in support of ground technology programs, reporting on-site daily in Aurora, Colorado.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SEIT Lead roles and engineering management, with the ability to drive rigorous systems engineering across multiple programs and collaborate with program management to deliver integrated, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 11 years of progressive technical experience; Master's degree with 9 years; PhD with 7 years
• 3+ years of leadership experience in engineering or related technical fields
• Strong understanding of the engineering development lifecycle across multiple engineering disciplines (SEIT, SW, HW, O&S)
• Top Secret Clearance/w SCI eligibility at time of application and willingness to sit for a poly

Responsibilities

• Functional oversight of an engineering organization working multiple programs, IRAD initiatives, and new business capture opportunities
• Contribute to bids and proposals with systems engineering estimates, staffing plans, and technical approach
• Fundamental understanding technical execution on key programs
• Identify skill gaps within the team and create a training roadmap to improve engineering excellence
• Lead a team of systems engineers, providing coaching and mentorship
• Oversight of recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new and experienced employees
• Employee inclusion and mentoring
• Performance management and career development
• Ability to balance the needs of the employee and the needs of the program, and willingness to engage with both
