The Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) Organization is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead the cybersecurity engineering work on the E-7A program in Tukwila, WA. This critical position will leverage and benefit from experience in program planning, organization and execution, proposals, multi-discipline engineering & analysis, strategic thinking, and talent management. You will be joining a Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Integrated Product Team (IPT), working with Product Security Engineers (PSE) who work jointly across engineering and leadership to develop best practices, techniques and tools, and a varied technical community to draw upon to deliver best value to our customers.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of performance in systems, product security and/or software engineering and leadership, and operating throughout the course of the engineering and operations lifecycles. Successful candidates are highly motivated and exhibit strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and effectively with external customers and subcontractors in a multi-site and multi-discipline program and environment.

Candidates are expected to be strong advocates for product cybersecurity policies and processes implemented on Boeing programs, and when needed educate program leadership on the importance and requirements of product security. Experience with model-based engineering is preferred.

In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of the USAF E-7A Product Security Engineering work scope, and team with SEIT and Product Security Leadership to ensure that our engineers and analysts are ready and able to deliver secure and resilient products and services to our customers. You will be a champion for PSE across Program and Engineering teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure engineering integrity, first-time quality, and efficient execution of Product Security activities through the Gated Process and active participation in major program milestones.
  • Work closely with the United States Air Force customer through working groups to successfully drive completion of work.
  • Own and manage effort to meet the Statement of Work for all product security responsibilities on the USAF E-7A program including CDRL deliverables, requirements compliance, system design and implementation, and prescribed process-oriented functions.
  • Manage cost and schedule execution for this team within and Earned Value Management System.
  • Actively manage risk, issues, and opportunities through program processes.
  • Actively partner with program leadership to ensure program objectives are accomplished.
  • Understand and possess demonstrable skills including:
    • Attracting, developing, and retaining talent.
    • Understand various statements of work to prepare, schedule, coordinate, assign, and monitor engineering tasks.
    • Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required to accomplish engineering tasks over the life of a program.
    • Ability to accomplish results through non-management employees who may or may not exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
    • Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events.
    • Compare actual results to baseline plans to assess team performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned.
    • Utilize root cause corrective action assessments to improve project or team performance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading technical teams.
  • 5+ years of experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Risk Management Framework.
  • Experience planning and managing to Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience working proposals and program start up activities.
  • Experience developing/implementing strategic plans.
  • Experience in system integration, verification, and test.
  • Experience in engineering of large-scale systems and overall systems engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in military aircraft modification programs.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members.
  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers.

Summary pay range: $147,050 - $198,950
