Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY is hiring a Technical Manager – Systems Engineering to lead a team of chief systems engineers across the full lifecycle of defense and aerospace programs. You will manage scope, schedule, and technical performance while aligning with customer needs and contractual obligations.

The ideal candidate brings deep systems thinking, strong people leadership, and proven success in regulated aerospace/defense environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of related experience; graduate degree preferred for more senior roles.
• 9+ years of progressive engineering experience, including significant systems engineering in defense/aerospace.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams or programs.
• Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of systems engineers across the full lifecycle from concept to sustainment.
• Direct experience as lead or chief systems engineer driving OPS lifecycle activities.
• Ensure technical execution aligns with customer requirements, cost/schedule constraints, and mission objectives.
• Oversee development and maintenance of system requirements, interface control documentation, and verification traces.
• Contribute to program performance through systems architecture, design, test, and integration.
• Lead root cause investigations and participate in program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.).
• Collaborate with program management, software/hardware/test/quality teams to ensure integrated execution.
• Drive compliance with DoD/aerospace standards, safety, cybersecurity, and mission assurance.
