Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY seeks a Technical Manager – Software Engineering to lead a 15–25 person software team, guiding architecture, design, and testing of complex defense programs. You’ll drive technical strategy, staffing, and process improvements to ensure on‑time, within‑budget delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, deep software development expertise, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance, with collaboration across product, program, and executive teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years related experience including embedded software background; Graduate Degree with 7+ years.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of related experience.
• 3 years of management/leadership experience with full software lifecycle development.
• 5 years with Agile/Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, and TDD.
• 5 years of DevOps experience and leading CI/CD pipelines.
• 8 years leading Software Development through multiple phases.

Responsibilities

• Lead an embedded software team to meet customer requirements within cost/schedule constraints.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop reliable solutions.
• Observe Agile software development and engineering processes.
• Provide software support for units under test to on-orbit assets.
• Communicate with leadership on status, milestones, and successes.
• Contribute to requirements analysis, design, code, and test activities.
• Obtain DOD Secret Clearance and US Citizenship.
• Experience leading/manage technical programs.
