Raytheon is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Engineer Intern to join our team within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Discipline, supporting a range of systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of the product, from concept to deployment. Every day will bring new challenges, requiring you to collaborate across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, perform data analysis, and implement solutions. Your contributions will directly impact the success of mission‑critical defense systems, and you'll have a hands‑on role in ensuring the entire system functions seamlessly.

What You Will Do

  • Support hardware engineering team with maintenance, inspection, and documentation
  • Participate in hands‑on troubleshooting and repair activities for mechanical components of hardware systems
  • Develop and update maintenance procedures and technical documentation for specialized equipment

What You Will Learn

  • Exposure to defense industry standards, security requirements, and configuration management process
  • Real‑world application of engineering coursework to solve practical problems
    Collaboration skills working within multidisciplinary engineering teams

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co‑op session.
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware errors and provide fixes
  • Experience with mechanical hardware documentation or drawing standards.

Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Coursework or interest in structural mechanics, material science, or mechanical systems design.
  • Familiarity with technical drawings or software such as CAD, solidworks, or similar tools
  • Experience with hands‑on mechanical assembly, fabrication, or maintenance activities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability follow technical specifications and safety protocols

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
