Job summary

As a Software Intern, you will develop, test, and deploy software applications for advanced U.S. Government communication systems, focusing on integration, maintenance, and debugging. What You Will Do
  • You will apply your C++ software development experience to design, implement, integrate, and test embedded software applications to be deployed to advanced systems that process modern communications for the U.S. Government, detection, identification, direction finding, geolocation, and collection of modern wireless communication signals and radars.
  • You will be responsible for integration and maintenance of a product, including debugging issues to root causes.
  • You will put into practice your solid understanding of concepts related to software architecture and design, and agile programming practices including continuous integration and automated build and test practices.
What You Will Learn
  • You will learn COMINT/ELINT principles and concepts and work side-by-side with industry recognized technical leaders to develop and implement state of the art systems.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience with C, C++, Java, or Python
  • Experience with data structures, object-oriented principles, and algorithms
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and related utilities
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Qt or other application frameworks
  • Experience and/or coursework in Databases, Networks, Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of network and communication protocols

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
