Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems in Menomonee Falls, WI invites qualified students to join as a Systems Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This paid internship provides hands-on engineering experience and exposure to electrical, software, mechanical, and test projects under experienced mentors.

The internship runs at least 10 weeks and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, along with 401(k) participation with company match and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current accredited college or university enrollment; progress towards an undergraduate degree in the relevant engineering field
• GPA 3.0 or above; preferable to junior or senior year
• Basic engineering tool knowledge relevant to discipline

Responsibilities

• Carry out basic work instructions to understand fundamentals and learn new things
• Conduct limited scope testing under supervision of engineers
• Gather and assemble data for engineers
• Help in research in your functional area
• Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under supervision of engineers; assist engineers with design details
• Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Join our Menomonee Falls, WI team as a Systems Engineering Intern! Our internships are hands on, highly technical, and designed to let you see what it's like to work at Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems. This is apaidsummer undergraduate intern opportunity. Engineering interns work closely with and assist our Engineering staff with various assignments and projects. Our Summer Intern Program consists of at least 10 weeks of real world experience in an engineering development environment.

We also offer assignments in Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Test. Mentors are assigned to assist interns in achieving engineering related career development that is of mutual benefit to the intern and DRS.

What You Will Do

Education & Experience Requirements

• Current accredited college or university enrollment; making progress towards an undergraduate degree in the relevant engineering field
• Grade point average of 3.0 or above; preferable to a candidate entering junior or senior year
• Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn
• Basic engineering tool knowledge relevant to discipline
• Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power electronics, control systems, switchgear, motors, mg sets, electronics packaging, energy conversion, etc. a plusc
