Job summary

RTX’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities team seeks interns to assist with integration and test of hardware and software for complex air defense systems. You will help plan, execute, and analyze integration tests, work in DOORS, and contribute to test documentation.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab and field testing, with opportunities to travel to support programs in MA/NH. Eligible candidates are Sophomore to Post-Graduate level in STEM fields.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in STEM and actively enrolled through internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by start of internship / co-op session.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in academic or internship setting.
  • Experience in data analysis using MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, execution, and reporting for integration and verification tests for hardware, software, and/or flight tests.
  • Update Verification Cross Reference Matrix in the DOORS requirements database.
  • Develop detailed integration or verification information sheets.
  • Support system or software regression testing and data analysis.
  • Perform data analysis for radar hardware, software and simulations with MATLAB.
  • Troubleshoot issues and root-cause analysis; implement fixes.
  • Travel locally to Raytheon locations as needed to support objectives.

What You Will Do

In Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) we integrate, verify, and validate our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers.


Our Integrated Systems Team seeks interns to support integration and test of hardware and software of complex air defense systems. Our team provides system engineering, integration, and test expertise to the radar, missile, and ground system programs within Raytheon. In this role you will perform various engineering activities depending on your experience and skill level, such as system test requirements development, planning, execution, and analysis for system integration and verification in hardware-in-the-loop facilities, flight tests, and sell-off of production systems; technical support on-site and as reach-back for deployed sensor systems; and modeling and simulation.


This position is an onsite role located in Andover or Tewksbury, MA


Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.


This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below


  • (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a sophomore by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment

  • (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment

  • (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment

  • (Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship


Responsibilities include supporting the test and evaluations of our products including but not limited to


  • Support the planning, execution, and reporting for integration and verification tests for hardware, software, and/or flight tests

  • Perform work within the requirements database in DOORS to update and maintain the Verification Cross Reference Matrix

  • Develop detailed integration information sheets and/or verification information sheets

  • Support system or software regression testing, and associated data analysis

  • Perform data analysis for radar hardware, software and/or simulations using tools such as MATLAB

  • Troubleshooting issues and anomalies with hardware and/or software, to identify root cause and implement and verify fixes

  • Business travel to support program objectives may be required. Local travel between Raytheon locations in MA and Southern NH may also be required


Qualifications You Must Have


  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.

  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby

  • Experience in data analysis using tools such as MATLAB

  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.


Qualifications We Prefer


  • Prior Engineering Internship working independently or in a team environment

  • Experience with commonly used test equipment, such as Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.

  • Experience with requirements management and configuration control practices

  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, C/C++ and/or other programming languages

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
