Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Systems Engineer SME to build, maintain, and guide integration with hosting for NCIS Mission Applications. The role is located in Quantico, VA and will start hybrid, with on-site presence daily for the first few months.

Responsibilities include gathering requirements, designing interfaces, installing and configuring hardware and software, and ensuring performance through tests and verification. A TS/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Clearance required: Top Secret/SCI.
• Experience administering Linux and Windows systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Ansible/Jenkins, etc).
• Experience with container orchestration (Fargate, Azure Containers, Rancher, etc).
• Experience with service mesh/discovery (Consul, Zookeeper, AWS Cloud Map).
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform/OpenTofu).
• DevSecOps familiarity or accreditation.

Job description

GovCIO is currently hiring for Systems Engineer SME to build, maintain, and provide guidance for integration with hosting environment for NCIS Mission Applications. This position will be located in Quantico, VAand will be a hybrid position expected to be on-site daily for the first couple of months.

Responsibilities

Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.

• Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers.
• Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
• Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
• Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment and devices.
• Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
• Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
• Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

SME Systems Engineer for this effort will be responsible for building, maintaining, and providing guidance for integration with hosting environment for NCIS Mission Applications.

Qualifications

High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

• Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI
• Linux and Windows systems administration
• CI/CD Pipeline creation/deployment/maintenance (Ansible/Jenkins/etc)
• Container Orchestration configuration, management, and operation (Fargate, Azure Containers, SUSE Rancher Prime RKE2, or similar)
• Service Mesh and Discovery configuration and operation (HashiCorp Consul, Apache Zookeeper, AWS Cloud Map, or similar)
• Infrastructure-as-Code utilities (such as Terraform/OpenTofu or similar)
• DevSecOps familiarity and/or accreditation.
• Must be comfortable managing deployments in on-premises, commercial, and hybrid clouds (including FEDRAMP and other secure cloud environments) and providing guidance to Mission Application developers on structuring solution architecture for compliance with policies, regulations, and implementation specifics.
