Job summary

Cloudflare in New York and Austin is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the UEBA team. You will build and operate production services that ingest signals, compute user risk, and enable customer-facing investigations.

You will own well-defined projects from design to rollout, collaborate with Product and Eng across Access, Gateway, Analytics, and Logs, and help improve detection coverage and system reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience building, testing, and operating backend or distributed systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in at least one systems programming language (Go, Rust, C/C++) with a track record of clean, maintainable code.
• 3+ years of practical experience with databases and data-intensive services (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse or similar).
• Experience with event-driven systems: messaging, duplicate/late events, state, recovery, and API updates.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to drive technical decisions with partners.
• Experience using metrics, logs, traces, profiling, and experiments to understand production behavior.

Responsibilities

• Build behavioral detections across signals like Access, Gateway, DNS, device posture, and data protection.
• Make risk understandable by connecting detections to event history and customer investigations.
• Design, deploy, and maintain robust distributed systems with high availability and low latency.
• Collaborate with Product and engineers across multiple teams to agree on event contracts and end-to-end functionality.
• Ensure reliability through architecture reviews, capacity planning, and proactive health monitoring.
