Job summary

Siemens Healthineers in Palo Alto is seeking a Systems Engineer for the radiation-producing subsystem of our Radiation Oncology products. You will define and manage system requirements, lead cross-functional integration, and verify complex multi‑discipline designs throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires hands‑on experience with system-level design and troubleshooting, collaboration across engineering disciplines, and strong project management in a regulated medical environment.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Systems Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience designing, integrating, verifying, and troubleshooting complex multidisciplinary products.
• Strong fundamentals in physics, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Experience developing and managing system requirements, specs, interfaces, and verification docs.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and drive complex issues to resolution across teams.
• Experience with requirements management, issue tracking, and product lifecycle management tools.
• Experience in medical devices, radiation therapy systems, accelerators, high-voltage systems, or regulated products is preferred.
• Familiarity with system risk management and regulated product development processes is desirable.
• Experience collaborating with external suppliers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and manage subsystem requirements, specifications, interfaces, and verification strategies.
• Lead system integration activities and drive resolution of complex technical issues across hardware, software, manufacturing, service, and supplier interfaces.
• Coordinate cross‑functional technical efforts throughout the product lifecycle from concept to release and sustaining engineering.
• Develop and execute system‑level test plans, analyze results, and ensure traceability between requirements, design, and verification activities.
• Support product risk management activities including root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions.
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs involving performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, quality, schedule, and cost.
• Drive technical projects and align engineering disciplines, suppliers, product management, manufacturing, quality, and field organizations.
• Communicate technical recommendations, decisions, and results to stakeholders at all levels.
