Job summary

IMC Trading is seeking a versatile Systems Engineer for our Global Development Platform in Chicago. You will help build and maintain platform services that keep our developers productive—from source control and CI pipelines to artifact repositories and observability tools.

You will work with a global team, applying AI-enhanced approaches to automate operations, ensure high availability, and support on-premise and AWS deployments across multiple data centers.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of work experience in SRE, platform, DevOps, infrastructure, or similar roles.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Strong programming experience in Python or Go; shell scripting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems.
• Experience operating and enhancing services across environments, DR plans, HA configurations, and failover strategies.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Kubernetes and Docker).
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or TeamCity, including managing build agents and automating build/test/deploy processes.
• Understanding of security principles and best practices, including secrets management and compliance frameworks.
• Self-starter and doer; strong communicator across teams.

Responsibilities

• Optimize reliability, scalability, and performance of development services infrastructure (Nexus, TeamCity, Jenkins, GitLab, Bazel remote execution).
• Administer and oversee source control, CI services, build agents, artifact repositories, metrics, logging, and observability across data centers and AWS/clouds.
• Drive operational excellence with failover, capacity planning, and well-maintained runbooks for every service.
• Diagnose and resolve production incidents with a follow-the-sun support model; collaborate with regional peers.
• Help build on-call and paging practices for 24/7 operations with automated workflows.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve uptime via automation and performance tuning; explore AI-enhanced ops.
• Support platform services like AI model gateway (LiteLLM).
• Integrate and deploy new Cloud SaaS solutions; collaborate cross-functionally to deliver tools.
